Class 4 - Taunton art and history trip to Taunton – Summer term

The children in Class 4 have been studying the Victorians and the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. The children have looked at what the village of Ruishton was like during the Victorian period of history and our trip to Taunton helped the children to understand what the town was also like 150 years ago. The children sketched important landmarks and thought about how these landmarks could be drawn in the style of Hundertwasser.

Class 4 - Rural Life Museum Glastonbury – Summer term

We visited the museum to gain some hands on experience of what it may have been like to be a Victorian living in Somerset. The children had the chance to take part in washing clothes as well as looking into the life of John Hodges, a farmer who lived over 160 years ago.

You will see from the pictures that the children enjoyed both experiences, particularly the trip to the museum, where the children came to school already for the day, dressed in Victorian costumes.

The school has many pictures available of these two trips and I am willing to copy pictures for parents either to memory stick or cd-rom. All I would ask is if you could make a small donation to Class 4, so we can continue to up date our reading materials. (Please contact Tim Gibbs)

Class 4 - Autumn 2008
Photos taken at the Playstreet Archaeological dig, near Neroche, on 26th September 2008. The children got envolved with the dig and cleaning the objects found some of which were as old as the 12th century. On the day the site was visited by local TV news crew as well as being featured on a previous time team episode.

Class 4 - Autumn 2008
This science experiment looked at life cycles and the children were planting the seeds in different conditions.
